   @soc to me (just some guy) Flatpaks/Snaps/etc seem like an intersection of the worst parts of static compilation and `curl | sh`

     @offset___cyan I I was an org with money and a desire to sabotage Linux on the desktop, I would hire these people and just let them to their thing.

     It is far too common developers of software consider their project too mature, advanced, or "above" putting files in the standard location, or in a configurable location. There is no good reason for Flatpak to dump files in `.var`, that's literally a random directory name.
