     @hamumu Did you release it on the same day? Also I just noticed that I've never put up a screenshot of it, surprisingly. Will have to fix that.

     @dosnostalgic early january 94, a kid came to school with it on 3.5" floppies. playing it on my 386 40MHz at home i had to put it into Low Detail mode, and there was some glitch in 1.0 or 1.1 that made the sfx especially ragged and evil-sounding.
     so, first encounter was not ideal. but obviously it still completely altered the course of my life.

     @dosnostalgic I would have been 8 or 9, so 94 or 95ish, when I found it on, I think, a floppy disk at a local farming fair. No doubt being sold for money in a plastic clamshell with a bit of printed paper advertising what it was. I remember talking to friends at school about it who had the full game. Joking about what BFG stood for and all laughing.

     I never told them that the game scared the ever loving piss out of me and I played on easy with cheats if I felt too scared.

     @dosnostalgic my dad was an early (ish) Linux adopter. His distro came with some ports of shareware games, including Abuse and Doom (this must've been sometime in 1995 or 96, so I was 8 or 9). We started playing it together, and were instantly hooked. Had a lot of fun discovering all the secrets etc.

     @dosnostalgic Doom was indexed in Germany for the longest time and it took me until 2001, when I played Doom II for the first time to really get me going.
     Nowadays I play through any given Doom episode at least once per month on Ultra-Violence.

     @dosnostalgic dunno the year. we had a user meeting of an Amiga BBS and people brought their PCs as well. They set up a coax network and started playing Doom.

     I was blown away!

     @dosnostalgic Had a 386 SX-25 when it came out so I didn't play it until around 97. Didn't leave much of an impression, honestly. I just vaguely remember that I played a bit of it.
