      🧵 I want to talk a bit about disparities of scale, and interoperability mismatches, and how they can be abused for advantage, as well as how they can be destructive even if no one is abusing them. Keep in mind these two facts as we go: 1. Even before it started launching in the EU yesterday, Threads' userbase was already about 150× that of the largest fediverse instance. 2. #Threads is Instagram under the hood, so "interoperability" necessarily involves conversion to and from ActivityPub.
