For reasons, I need to try and find a privacy-respecting way to run WhatsApp on Android for someone else.
Any ideas?

@RichiH protect privacy from whom?
Maybe creating a separate Android user for that person?
@RichiH what I did is created a new user, that would give you a separate space on the phone, with its own contacts, its own apps, etc...
That way, at least you won't give your contacts to Meta, neither it would access your other apps.
Other thing I did one time, but wasn't as user friendly is run WhatsApp on Linux using something like AndBox. You would need a phone number to receive the authentication sms and then can work from the computer.
@rbonifaz I don't even know the precise failures introduced by installing that thing. I literally don't know.
