      Lair of Squid (Hewlett-Packard 200lx game)You're trapped in an under water maze that you need to escape. You complete each level (and rise to the surface) by exiting the maze door and giving the secret password. * are shown for each password letter; as you see letters in the maze they will be uncovered. You still need to unscramble the word to leave. Several squid are also wandering the maze. Don't run into them, or the game ends. Careful; squid can sneak up on you!- Keys -↑,↓ (8,2) : Move forward/back ←,→ (4,6) : ROTATES your view (but the squid stay put).   Spc: Skip turn (squid move!)Esc: Ends the gameHints: At the bottom right, you'll see three letters. Pressing each letter in order gives a hint.         Hint 1: Gives you odd letters and adds pointer to the exit to your direction arrow.Hint 2: Gives even letters and location of exit.      Hint 3: Unscrambles word and unveils map. (Cheat mode)  More hints = fewer points!You start each game with 3 lives (shown by the little heart in the bottom right corner). Each time you are killed by a squid, you lose one life. If you fail to open the door after the 3rd try, you lose, no matter how many lives you have left. Every seven levels you are awarded a new life.Good Luck!Easter Egg:Type GALLERY at the start of the game.

      Unfortunately the cool screen melting effect when you bump into a squid is not emulated. 😞

      I didn't notice at first, but the game wasn't functioning correctly. It actually looks for some 200LX system files in a pre-defined location, and if it doesn't find them then it still runs, but is missing its main gameplay mechanic of collecting codes to open doors. Fixed now.
