Played around with DESQview/X today. Pretty cool. Not sure what I'd ever be using it for. I guess if you wanted to run multiple text mode DOS programs at the same time - it's *really* good at that. But other than that, it's kind of clunky.
An impressive feature is being an X11 client/server. You can use Unix programs running on a Unix machine on your DOS PC, or you can stream DOS programs or Windows 3.1 (real/standard modes only) to a Unix station. Not sure how often you'd want to do that though

Oh, forgot to mention an important bit: it *requires* you run QEMM for your memory manager.

@dosnostalgic iirc there's a command-line switch for disabling the QEMM requirement (or was that HIMEM?)

@michaln There is, but it's not like it runs without it.

@michaln I'm not that interested in further testing. Just wanted to play around for a bit.

@dosnostalgic very cool! do you have the network working properly yet? if not, I can help when I get some free time. I've had success with the emulated PCNet Fast-III card in VirtualBox, as well as with a generic RTL8139-based card on a physical machine. I've yet to get PPP working (though, I only want to get that working for curiosity's sake)
