    Google abandons its promise to block third-party cookies in Chrome, leaving billions vulnerable to online surveillance. We need strong privacy legislation to fight back. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/08/google-breaks-promise-block-third-party-cookies

    1. Google Breaks Promise to Block Third-Party Cookies
      from Lena Cohen

      @eff but of course.
      A promise from a tech gigant like #google is as much worth as a promise from #putin, #republicans or any other right wing party.

      @eff If you're a techie still using Chrome by choice, you're an asshole.

      No excuses, you're helping #Google destroy the web.

      @eff Google is really an ad-based business itself and there is no way they can actually go against that, despite all thee well-meaning words and PR - it's their bread and butter. Maybe they should not be in the browser business at all.

      @eff Lesson 1: Do not use Google Chrome. Better, avoid Chrome-based browsers. Use Firefox or a fork of Firefox if you’re tired of all of FF’s invasiveness, but stay away from Chrome and do everything to de-Google. It’s the only way you’re going to even begin to reclaim your privacy from this criminal enterprise.
