@loadhigh I always preferred the original. It is such a streamlined experience that still pretty much holds up as is. The sequel is pretty good, but it does feel like a mishmash of ideas often, and some of the puzzles are a bit questionable.

Finished The Secret of Monkey Island 2 today, right after (finally) completing the original for the first time.
More locations, characters, items, everything. Maybe too much? Definitely too much spitting, I didn't like that at all. The innuendo felt out of place, too.
And what happened to clueless, innocent Guybrush? I felt terrible for some of the things he/I did to people.
To end on a positive note, the music with its seamless transitions was a highlight, LucasArts' iMUSE really shined here
