   My favoured model for the near future of the web is small scale hosting. Smaller is better. So you might host just yourself or your family or your club on a single box and then the boxes federate. This avoids the problems of meganodes such as mastodon.social are experiencing.
   
   For the far future I think P2P is the way to go. ZeroNet, IPFS, DHTs. No servers at all. Long term mesh is the only thing which truly scales, but it needs corresponding P2P software running on it.
