But I'd figure to leave them unblocked, honestly.

At the end of the day, choosing to block your server is their choice, in doing so they accept what comes with that, if there's accidental workarounds on your end well, kinda tough shit. I recognize that sounds a tad harsh, but it's their choice to block, it's not on you to accommodate that. Fediverse is for...yknow, federating, after all. If they try and stop that, and a thing goes iffy, well yeah of course it did they're trying to stop the main intent.
