Pieter Hintjens had a policy of merging "correct" patches as soon as possible, with some minimal definition of correctness. Many people, me included, were skeptical about that, but now I tend to think he was right.

In his definition a valid criticism of a recently merged patch should be the submission of a correcting patch. This avoids a lot of waffling, finger pointing, flaming and other non-coding nonsense.
