I would encourage you rethinking tha habbits of using #twitter, and further more promote #gnusocial instead of twitter. To not loose the connection to your follower you could simply link gnusocial with twitter, so that everything posted here is also directed to twitter. Addicionaly you have more words for writing, in case you'll need to make a longer statement of something.
