I've debated running my own instance attempting to be as reasonable as possible with the following traits
>Individual users from other instances who violate rules on my instance are silenced, their home instances are not
>No photography illegal in Canada (legally obligated) but only individuals who post them will be silenced
>Instances dedicated to illegal or harmful content are silenced entirely (not instances which promote free speech but ones that intentionally promote harassment by design (none I know of atm))
>Open registration
>Harassment is banned on or off instance. User is banned, not instances.
>Non-political focus (not rule) based on that you'll probably end up pissing someone off and it'll be a huge thing and nobody's gonna like that
>Non-profit
And even if I did so... I have reason to believe I would still have my entire instance blocked by the ones that ban per-instance and not per-user. Ultimately giving me no reason to run it.
