     Kaitiakitanga (Earth care) is a core principle of kaupapa Māori, so I'm guessing it's lack of consultation by the defeated NatACT government

     ... rather than any fundamental objection to the proposal for a sanctuary in the Kermadecs, a critical area of marine habitat.

     I'm confident the new government and Te Ohu Kaimoana can come to an agreement that balances fishing rights with marine sustainability.
