A friend of mine who works in film has been saying to me that this is essentially a semi-violent culture change for Hollywood.  A lot of very skeevy behaviour has been normalized in film production culture, in particular Hollywood's, that is facing a severe backlash.  I tend to trust her judgement on that kind of thing for a variety of reasons: she's well-connected in that industry, she's dealt with some of it herself (without going into details that aren't mine to share), and we see that very publicly with stuff like Polanski.
