What the US Government did today affects not only the ability of US citizens to communicate and associate, it disrupts and reconfigures the relationship of the US with the rest of the world.
The internet will survive, and other countries will route around and work to make central points of failure less central. But discussions of a better world and how we want to build it will be made poorer (until today, unthinkable) without the US people being an important part of it.
