   #sheffield Council chamber has been occupied by the people.  There is much dissent in the city, over the running and financing of a road renewal program. The program involves chopping down thousands of healthy trees.  Sheffield has (had?) a reputation of being one of the greenest cities in the #UK.  Also the contractual arrangements around the program are opaque and no allowed to be shared with the people !!!! ???  Which is another cause of anger.

     We have a concept of heritage trees. Developers cut them down and pay the minimal fine as the cost of doing business. We need stronger rules and penalties.

     Never trust profiteering capitalism with public resources.

     This sickens me. While there is room for private companies in public space, the will of the people should never be displaced by contract.
