   Very important thread on how Mastodon still fails to have proper privacy - I agree that sharing the data is incrementally better, but agree there are some advantages to centralizisation.

     @tether Very big thinking emoji on the statement that mastodon.social somehow had worse privacy protection than facebook during the early days (or ever, really). Incredibly blurry statement that doesn't point to any incident in particular. The person then ends with "I am working on something better, but it's not out yet"

     The idea that you could build a dating app on top of Signal is also very... strange. Signal only works on top of your contacts list.
