Personal opinion on Material Design 2 after being formally presented:

You know what? It's awesome. In words of the Google Design team, "Material Design isn't a single style. It's an adaptable design system." It's actually keeping its original ideas and 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 them so that you can apply the concept of playing with material to different styles and brands, which is pretty neat.

Google's implementation of its branding on Android and apps sucks and shits all over the place, though.
