people often freak that due to the increasing luminosity of the Sun that complex life will be absent in ~500-1000my from now, but complex life has existed so far for ~1000my, the Cambrian Explosion was ~500mya, that should give a scale of the timescale (note: this is how long until heat drives CO2 out of the atmosphere it'll return but long after most life is destroyed and when the sun is starting to cook the planet), humans, or decendents would be long left i'd hope.
