I've seen surprisingly many people call GDPR "The new Y2K bug" because of how "It breaks everything"
I don't know how you got the idea to relate those two things. But just like the Y2K bug, all GDPR does is fix things by brute-force that shouldn't have been broken in the first place.

And unlike Y2K it's not like it was caused by a bad decision/accident in the past. This privacy stuff is just a mess of corporate and government decisions that were made WILLINGLY.
