One flaw ive seen with mastodon is that the larger the fedverse gets the harder it is to run an instance unless you severely limit who you federate with due to image storage increasing over time as well as database size

Cling on to remote media forever, force admins to flush the cache out themselves and NEVER retrieve past media when it's actually needed again.
It's an absolutely awful system. :blobugh:
