     While dictatorships in nation states are terrible ideas because of the brutal actions you have to enact to keep power these incentives do not exist for the most part when you are running an online community.

     Benevolent dictatorships are possible in that case.

     As an instance admin i have no key supporters to appease. So i dont. I can focus on creating a space free of assholes so long as you are willing to put up with the asshole who runs it :p

     @Laurelai Have to say this is the most peaceful / drama-free experience I’ve ever had with social media. I don’t think it’s just because “masto”. You’ve clearly done a good job of keeping the instance clean.
