   Every time someone proposes a moderation tool it's like, required that someone show up with the "But what if this somehow causes you to not see someone's thoughts and those thoughts might be something you might have wanted to see!!!!"

   which... is.... really not understanding how internet abuse works, how severe and distressing and exhausting it is... it's also really patronizing. Victims *KNOW* this is a likely outcome and *ITS OKAY* because the torrents of abuse *ARE WORSE*.

     and it's still always missing the point that what victims are asking for isn't to just *not see* the abusive people. They want to *affect their reach* and prevent further abuse. Anytime moderation tools lean too close to actually facilitating that goal, people (mostly men) go wild with trying to shut it down.
