sure, there may be other projects that are run like a social club and people there might be more willing to handhold newcomers, but insisting all projects take that approach when it doesn't align with their goals is pretty demanding too don't you think

@uwy certain types of people are a source of unwanted drama, and no claiming the other person is being a dick is not an excuse for making them merge poor code
if you can't have the minimal required to have coherent code, and it is very high in their domain, stay in school or read the manual idk
skills are just rare enough that people have to tell others to go fix their code bluntly because they'd rather not waste time on formalities on yet another spaghetti merge request

@roobre @uwy i support separate lebensraum for both sides. people who want a more humane project team could always fork and start their separate project, likewise people who just want to get things done should leave those new projects alone

@uwy chuuni requires you to act on fantasy. I act on reality, and reality is a simulation. Plenty of scientists and philosophers have long thought that some form of the simulation exists. The idea of the philosophical zombie has existed for a long time. The npc theory has a high probability of existing in the simulation models. With the simulation theory also exists the idea of "saving processing power" where the computer that most likely controls our universe is so massive it may not even exist on Earth. So any alternative simulation computer will have to inevitably have to "not load" parts of our world to save power. We see it in the form of small things like atoms. When you look at an object you don't see the mall things like mites, bacteria, and atoms that make up the object, you just see the object. It is only until you zoom in that they small things "load".
So ask yourself this question, if a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it does it make a sound? In the simulation theory if it is not observed it doesn't even exist until it loads. If our universe works like that what else are they saving power on? Think of it (which you can't because you are an NPC) what does it take for a computer to even emulate the human brain? A computer so big and advanced it doesn't exist yet. But what does it take to emulate a human close enough to be believeable? From my research not much. We attribute human emotion and thinking to things like robots and animals right now. If the processing power it takes to emulate a human to being believeable is like half or a quarter then that is a lot of power saved. So most likely if you live in a simulation there is a 99.9 percent chance an NPC exist. But how many NPCs exist? Well that's what I'm here to find out.
With my religious background I believe a lot of out there stuff. The simulation theory is one of the rare scientific theories where science and religion can confortably exist. On the religion front what tends to separate us from other beings is our souls. The soul can be saved, or burn in hell. Which leads me to believe do beings without souls exist? Is it actually not possible to save everyone? The thought came to me as someone entered my life who I thought God wanted me to save but as much as I tried I failed. Why would God send me a person that I couldn't help in any way? Then I realized that what God was trying to show me was an example of a person that doesn't exist. Maybe they do have a soul, but if they do it is hidden under a pile of lies, anger, and dishonerability. They are not able to be saved as they have succumbed to the code. The myth of the Golem teaches us what people without souls are like. The souless ones out there have an inability to do good.
I'm determined to find out who the NPCs are and I've found the solution with religion. Truth is the answer to the NPC problem. In the Catholic religion confession is the answer to all sins, even the worst ones. The separation between us players and the NPCs in the simulation is the ability to be honest and take responsibility for what we have done. In fact the first sin of mankind may not have been to eat the apple but to not be honest and take responsibility for doing so. That was our original sin, and oddly enough the age of Jesus brought on the power of confession and being more than what we are.
What your failings are as an NPC is the adherence to the code. The code of conduct actually. Your NPC code blames others for crimes they may have not even done and when confronted with others honesty and truth you react the same, much like an NPC. The weakness of the NPC is the inability to adapt, because doing so would take more processing power than need for the simulation.
This is the true power of the players.
