I like that the plot of #MrRobot seems to suggest that "E-Corp" is trying to implement their own virtual currency, "eCoin", in the aftermath of a huge financial crisis due to debts being deleted.

The currency is mentioned by the Chinese minister of security when talking to EvilCorp's president as well as it's a payment option on the "Midland City" darkweb marketplace in #S02E05 (look at description for the "hitman for hire" ad). So in the Mr. Robot world it's apparently a recognized currency already.

It begs the question about what type of control virtual currencies have when controlled by a single, centralised company. Rather than being governed by nations or being beyond manipulative control such as with #Bitcoin etc.

Hopefully it makes people think twice about payment solutions such as MasterCard/Visa, Paypal, Swish (phonenumber based transactions owned by a couple of banks in Sweden) etc.

@mmn FED and ECB are private institutions with an economic mandate. They are not governed by nations
