Why AM radio sound is so pleasent to hear and so situable for talk radio? My hypothesis is that its because it has only 50dB of dynamic range, unlike FM radio that is 70-80dB. So it overlaps much less with ambient sounds (low and high pitch) so you can pay attention easily to ordinary machinery sounds, phone calls, etc. AM broadcasts are aften equalized to be sound rich in the human voice frequencies, so it has less brain demand than FM's wider range. What do you think? #am #mw #radio
