f@bob Facebook has a whole division of projects for introducing their version of internet into disconnected territories, including a high altitude drone (IIRC they canceled this one) and long distance laser beams. Someone told me they even bought a project that was making libre hardware for cellphone networks (I think they're called BTS'?)
