   @jartigag You can use Control+o to go to the normal mode and execute one thing. One it's done it goes back to insert mode.

     @jartigag It is uncomfortable, you should remap it, I personally like it on Caps Lock but some people use double j to escape insert mode

     @jartigag <esc> is fine with me. because it is out of the eay there is no confusion or an accidental and unintended command. besides: the <esc> key is bigger :-)

     @jartigag I have ESC on my caps key, so it's comfortable. I know people that use jk as ESC.

     @jartigag I don't mind ESC except on my old tablet keyboard which didn't have one. The home key ( as in the android home key) was in that spot

     but at now i spend more time on normal mode than on insert mode, because i'm in a reading-a-lot stage

     i take note of that anyway 👍
