The protection of "Intellectual Property" is killing the planet for the benefit of the very few.

How many disease cures, materials breakthroughs, and amazing biological discoveries are locked in vaults, never to be used?

Universities and corporations hoard this knowledge and never do anything with it. Even published academic papers don't give enough info to replicate results.
