I am just coming back from holidays in πŸ‡»πŸ‡ͺ Venezuela. My flight was canceled last week due to the national blackout and I would like to share some personal impressions.

The Venezuelan power grid is fed mainly by a single hydroelectric power plant that provides power to almost 80% of the country. The blackout lasted 72 hours in the capital and up to 6 days in many states. In a country where cash is hard to find, this meant no way to pay for food or goods during those days.

The blackout also caused water services to fail and communications were strongly affected. I did not have a way to use my mobile. There was no way to communicate what was happening.

it was clearly a terror attack driven by US-Canada and their allies in Venezuela. The proofs are not available yet but tweets from Marco Rubio and the opposition leader confirmed their involvement. The latter one tweeted β€œelectricity will return once the usurpation ends”, clearly blackmailing the current government.

People behaved very calmly but I guess if the power shutdown would have lasted longer, it would have been really hard to survive - probably causing violent events and confrontation between the people.
