We are working on an opt-in upload filter to comply with Article 13 for EU instances.

The filter will also prevent media uploads that violate the Terms of Service.

We might not agree with Article 13, but we need to be prepared. #pixelfed

This might be premature, it still needs to go through the Council of Ministers and it won't be compulsory (if ever) until 2021.

Article 13 is contradictory, it wants all piracy filtered out but but also all fair use permitted. No filter exists which can do both of these things, and probably will never exist.

It's possible (likely?) that the courts will amend A13 due to previous EU privacy laws which seem to conflict with it.
