@foo Can understand that everyone doesn't need to be responsible of everything, it's okay to delegate some things to people that specialize on that.
But there are other things that shouldn't be delegated. At least, not delegated by everyone to a single entity. That's why I think that federation is a good alternative. It's still delegating responsability of your social media on other people, but at least isn't as centralised as Facebook, and it's easier to develop a trustworthy relationship with your administrator in tinier instances.
At this point, humans need some level of delegation (and therefore, trust) to not collapse.
