    To be honest, this hasn't happened just once in the past 2.5 years that I own this machine, either.

    It did happen to me on a MacBook before though 😂

    I guess unlucky combination of BIOS / firmware and kernel update. Just upgraded to kernel 5.1.2 and the suspend seems to work fine again.
