   Its easy, and dishonest to dismiss evil as mental illness. The cold truth is that evil people choose to do evil with rational minds for selfish reasons. Its hard to accept that because then you have to look at your own shadow.

     You have to acknowledge that the capacity for evil lives within you too. Most people dont have the strength to do that. Which is what makes them so dangerous. They wont see themselves falling into those traps. They wont work to avoid it.
