   never tried Dactyl Manuform.
   But i think i'd prefer Dactyle.

     yes, thumb is a problem on ergodox.
     but not on dactyl. The manuform or dactyl manuform combo tried to make thumb movement in a inward motion. People think it's theoretically better, but am not sure about that. haven't tried it anyway.
