   If you must gather analytics, please don't use Google Analytics. GA helps Google to spy on your visitors, and to spy on your site too.

   A more privacy-friendly alternative is Matomo (aka Piwik):

   It's free and open and can be self-hosted, or you can use their paid cloud service instead.

     Yup 👍 Fathom is also listed on switching.social and it too has self-hosting or hosted options.

     Google's captcha tracks people too. Google's entire business model depends on tracking people, that's why they give away so many "free" services.
