In case you missed it, Glimpse is a fork of the excellent photo editor GIMP:

The name is changed for those who find "Gimp" problematic/offensive, and there are plans to tweak the interface too 👍
There's a good article discussing the project on The Register:

They're not forcing people to use the fork, they even encourage people to donate money to GIMP directly.
They're just providing the fork for people who cannot use GIMP (such as the educators mentioned in the Register article).
Giving people a choice isn't setting anyone back, it's widening the audience for an excellent app.

The problem was this:
-Some schools liked the software but didn't want to use an app with that name.
-GIMP's lead developers absolutely refused to change the name.
The only way to get GIMP to these schools in this situation is to fork it with a name change.
Getting this kind of software more widely used in schools is great, because it means more future professionals will be comfortable using FLOSS software instead of being captives of Adobe etc.

That's a bit extreme, saying that schools are either named or imaginary?
I'm willing to take this on trust:
"The proposal was supported by another developer, Leonora Tindall, who noted that "I have, on two occasions now, recommended this program to photography and graphic design educators (as an alternative to Photoshop) who told me that they considered it and found it good as software but weren't permitted by their institution to use it in the classroom because of the name."

Yeah, I'm getting that error now too.
The site was working fine (for me at least) yesterday, so presumably something has broken just recently?
