@nik worry about your own existence instead of focusing on how someone else dresses/talks/does their hair
-
@nik why do you hate people for being themselves / liking what they like
-
@nik let me recap this: you're mocking this person for their identity which is really not that different than attacking anyone else for their identity (race, religion, gender, fetishes, yadda yadda). The only difference is you feel that they are not vulnerable so it's safe to do so. But if this guy saw your posts and went home and put a gun in his mouth, what would you say then?
I think your main grievance is the Google shirt. You know, it's OK for people to like Google. Google's products have had a profound impact on the quality of many people's lives. You and I both know that their business model is evil as fuck so we stay away.
Well, I feel the same way about Amazon but I'm not going to stop using Amazon anytime soon. But I try to make better choices when the opportunity presents itself.
I'm sure there are many products in your life that you enjoy which you'd be appalled at if you fully understood the business model or who is getting exploited in the creation of the end product, be it children in sweatshops or working mines for rare earth metals. It's all subjective.
If we were all outraged at everything worth being outraged at we'd have no time left to actually enjoy life. It's still not cool that others are being exploited to various degrees, but sometimes as an individual consumer there's only so much you can do. *You* can boycot products, but that won't stop the company; only market regulation will. Even if America, for example, stopped importing devices built with exploitative labor they're still going to be built and sold, just to different markets in the world. What do you think the world is going to look like when Africa really starts coming online, or the next billion out of China/India?
We have along way to go and it's not going to get any easier. Keep your eye on the goal, but don't trample those that can't see it yet or you'll make enemies instead of allies.
