@animeirl there are several things here that get mixed together:
1. did RMS do a lot for free software: I think yes, without him it wouldn't exist in the way it does today
2. did he write something horrible in his blog post: I'd say no, it's just the thing a hyperlogical autist like him writes, without any bad thoughts behind it. He's written stuff like that a thousand times before, most often for progressive causes.
3. Should he not be the public face of FSF and step down to make room for someone else: I think that's a good thing to argue for, because of his undiplomatic style he constantly starts fights that are not necessary. So I think him leaving can be a good thing, but not as a beaten dog but as someone who did a lot of good for FOSS, but is not up to the current tasks and can use some rest.

@lain @Wolf480pl @animeirl it was an email to a mailing list wherein in his attempt to defend Minsky (who, for as far as anyone can tell did not accept Epstein's offer) he went and created a bizzare narrative wherein Minsky did take the offer and then defended taking the offer in perhaps the most bizzare way possible. it's not really the content of the message that is the problem but the bizzare defense in the first place.
