Has anyone written up a concise explanation of the reasons why internet activists tend not to trust Cloudflare? I’m having trouble convincing one of my cow-orkers that this is actually a thing to be concerned about (when developing a website whose audience is specifically those activists, so this isn’t just a solidarity thing, it affects our credibility).

@zwol if you think it's great for one company to receive half the internet's traffic -- and see the unencrypted data -- just to proxy it as a service, then

CloudFlare will be doing their IPO soon. They'll have fiduciary duty to their shareholders to maximize profits, that means doing scary things with the data they have access to.

Draw your own conclusions. They're not going to go down in history as a good guy, I'm certain of that.

@portpupper @zwol yup, they're in it for the money not to make the internet better.

It's also one of the reasons I'm salty about the DoH shit Firefox is doing

Ebay v Newmark, 2010. It is now codified by case law.

@zwol To circle back on this --

CloudFlare is releasing WARP to the general public. So now a lot of mobile users will be sending *all* their traffic through CloudFlare.

This is going to get worse. I promise.
