   @takeshitakenji Without a conversation-uri identifier, how would you even devise a means to poll for missing notices efficiently?
   
   Then again as has already been demonstrated, Mastodon isn't too worried about efficiency.  It's needed more hardware thrown at it every time more than two users sign up in a day.

     @takeshitakenji I find it personally kind of amusing, as I cut down more and more on GS' bloat in postActiv as I can, Mastodon is finding more and more ways to add it.
     
     I don't have the notice to hand, but someone said "Its pretty clear there's the well-standardized way to do things, and then there's the Mastodon way to do things" - I find that pretty true in my experience.  Basically any time there's problems Gargron finds a way to try to pin it on GNU social when it so often comes down to him not following the standard ways to do it.

     I can do that because everything in it is associated with a conversation ID, which Mastodon doesn't understand.
