@pschwede What do you mean? Generally cans are going to reduce waste not increase it since it means less volume to ship since the food is precooked at the source and preserved. So less volumn to move, and less urgency to move it quickly. Allowing for more efficient transportation.
In the end it likely balanced out.
But regardless of that fact I assure you this boomer was not ignorant to cants because of energy production. I have no doubt he has seen plenty of cans in his life.
@pschwede That sounds like it is more a issue with people not recycling then, not so much an issue with producing canned goods in the first place.

@pschwede I like the idea that a producer needs to pay the disposal fee on a product. Presuming of course that that fee actually goes to the recycling and only those costs and they do not build in the cost to actually clean up trash thrown away improperly (which is the consumers fault not theirs)
