     For about 6 months, I'm the leaser of a Kleingarten ('Small garden', popular in former East Germany with a socialist history)

     I now have a deeper appreciation for the use of 'grassroots' in an activist context: not only growing 'bottom up', but surprisingly hard to rip out.
