      @codewiz I think everyone’s response is going to be the same. They turned everyone on to OpenJDK, no one should turn back. Interesting move though.

      @codewiz Perhaps she’s just looking at the financial side of it. I know they lost some business over the last several years. The move to OpenJDK took a coordinated IT effort and wasn’t just us devs. They made enemies across the organization.

      @Maryam Well, Oracle has acquired and then proceeded to fuck up all the open-source projects named in that comment.

      This behavior is reminiscent of Microsoft's old Embrace, Extend, Extinguish strategy, but with open-source projects there's always the option of forking:

      @Maryam In the case of the JDK, I couldn't care less, but the brand confusion around OpenOffice vs LibreOffice and MySQL vs MariaDB has caused real harm to these projects.
