@codewiz I think everyone’s response is going to be the same. They turned everyone on to OpenJDK, no one should turn back. Interesting move though.
@huddle Oracle's CEO seems to be a bit out of touch with developers, isn't he?
@codewiz Perhaps she’s just looking at the financial side of it. I know they lost some business over the last several years. The move to OpenJDK took a coordinated IT effort and wasn’t just us devs. They made enemies across the organization.
@huddle Oh, I'm the one who's out of touch! Safra Catz is the current CEO, and Larry Ellison is CTO.
Anyway... stay away from these greedy people.
@codewiz I don't get the comment. More context?
@Maryam Oh, it seems the top comment changed. This is the one I was referring to:

@codewiz That's the comment for which I need more context.
@Maryam Well, Oracle has acquired and then proceeded to fuck up all the open-source projects named in that comment.
This behavior is reminiscent of Microsoft's old Embrace, Extend, Extinguish strategy, but with open-source projects there's always the option of forking:

@Maryam In the case of the JDK, I couldn't care less, but the brand confusion around OpenOffice vs LibreOffice and MySQL vs MariaDB has caused real harm to these projects.
