Who knows... I'm thinking about moving to yt-dlp too, although I read that the options are a bit different. Gotta look into it. Sigh.

@aearil No, thank you for providing the mpv config line! Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the version (0.32) included in Debian stable, 'cause it doesn't support the ytdl_path key.
I have installed yt-dlp and everything else seems to work, including one script that acts as my local "subscription" feed from my favorite channels.
@aearil Thx! I use mpv as a YT player just casually, so I believe I'll be surviving like this for a while :-D
@tagomago @aearil
I also have mpv v0.32 and got it working by using a symbolic link for yt-dlp to youtube-dl:
$ ln -s $(command -v yt-dlp) ~/.local/bin/youtube-dl
(or replace /usr/local/bin with whatever you want that's in your PATH)
@ryandaniels @aearil Ty! I always get confused by symlinks. Shouldn't I link from youtube-dl to yt-dlp as target instead? Btw, I didn't know you can symlink commands, though it makes sense, being files too ๐ฎ
@clacke @ryandaniels @aearil Thanks, very illustrative indeed! I hope I remember it next time I use it... :D
