   Today is the first day in last 3 (4?) years that I have health insurance. I'm glad I can finally go to the doctor.

     @jb Without insurance my last doctors visit for a general checkup was $250 USD followed up by another $200 for blood work.

     Yet somehow people in this country think that a universal healthcare system would "cost too much". ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

     @art This is crazy, it almost sounds like your country was not built for it's people.
     Last year I had a surgery, spent 2 days in hospital. Including all the pre-surgery prep stuff I had to pay <50€ from my pocket. And even that was later reimbursed by health insurance from my employer, even without it that would not have been a huge deal.
