#Signal has a new flow for transferring messages and identity to a new phone using Nearby Share ♥️
Moxie, you're still not forgiven for trying to sneak your ScamCoin into Signal last year!

Fully clearing your reputation would require email-based identity and multiple devices sharing the same Signal account.
@Librenyaa Indeed, there's no perfect IM!
I'd recommend Element / Matrix if it had more users... Telegram is the most usable and has a userbase second only to WhatsApp, but it's not e2ee by default and the server is proprietary.
@codewiz Do you have any you'd recommend over Signal? Every messenger seems to have some compromise somewhere, I liked Signal until they did the crypto.
@RisottoGateway Is Moxie still involved with Signal, after stepping down as CEO? It's not clear to me...
@RisottoGateway It sounds like it was his decision:

But even when the board kicks a CEO for misconduct, they always share a nice and positive press release, don't they? 😏
@RisottoGateway Yeah, it really made Moxie look like a get-roch-fast scammer... and his half-assed justifications made me conclude that he was indeed guilty.
@RisottoGateway I don't think that having a peer-to-peer, secure, provacy-respecting payment system in an IM would be a bad idea per se... Just not one which is premined by a non-transparent foundation that wouldn't even state that the coins are 100% pre-mined and sold by them.
@djsumdog It works, but it contains only the data and not the private keys of your device... so when you restore all your friends will know that you bought a new phone (or you've been MitM'd...
@cherti @RisottoGateway True.
@codewiz @RisottoGateway he's still on the board of the Signal Foundation, just has stepped down as CEO. So it's unplausible it was not his own decision given that he remains on the foundation board. If someone decided he should be kicked it seems unlikely to they'd (whoever they would be) left him on the board of what owned the company he left the CEO position of.
