For the young people in the crowd, Sears was a dominant general retailer back in the day. Everything from clothing, household goods, large appliances, workmen’s tools, etc. If you lived in a mid-size town in the US, there probably was a Sears store nearby. Also, very well known for their catalog shopping. Their annual Christmas catalog was inches thick!
