@priryo Filmoteca Española has just published the first of the two part documentary on their Vimeo account: https://vimeo.com/715182029
imo the best documentary about the Spanish transition.

@tagomago
Not heard if that, will look, cheers!
@priryo I've just seen the movie. It has very strong moments, although perhaps the editing is not so agile. Also it's mainly a perspective from Catalonia. The Basque point of view is minimally expressed, and other regions are completely ignored (just vaguely referred in some of the dialogues). Also, the civil society is out of its scope.
I would absolutely recommend watching "Después de..." as an essential political document on this time period.

@priryo "Cuadecuc" is just a snobbish avant-garde rehash of some kind of "making of" he filmed during the shooting of a Dracula movie by Jesús Franco. It could've been great, but it isn't.
@tagomago Haven't seen that one yet, but they do look like they would be opposites(ish). Pre-/post-Franco etc. I imagine General Report would be more direct.
@priryo I couldn't stand his "Cuadecuc Vampir", but I'll try this one.
...there is then a lot of talking in smoke-filled rooms but across all social classes - the political parties, the workers' movements, Basques, Catalans. Nearly all the faultlines in today's #Spain are included, so it's fascinating to watch today.
You get to see Big Beasts of politics like Pujol and Gonzalez before they ascended to power (and started filling their pockets).
The big, glaring omission, of course, is women. 😠
Another niche recommendation, but if it's your niche you really want to see Pere Portabella's General Report (on Spain's post-Franco transition period).

It's not what you expect from a political documentary, it opens at Franco's tomb like a horror movie, then whisks you away to demonstrations in Barcelona and Madrid with a whirling, intense thriller soundtrack. (I think by Grup Instrumental Catala, who I can find very little about).
